Description
The Vicarage in Salcombe Regis dates from around 1840 but is likely a recasing of an earlier structure. It is a two-storey building with a rough cast exterior and a low-pitched hipped slate roof featuring a modillion eaves cornice. The symmetrical garden front has four first-floor windows with recessed sashes that retain their glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two later rectangular bays that share a common hipped slate roof. The original front door is made up of six fielded panels and has a rectangular fanlight above it, framed by pilasters with fielded panels, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice.
To the west, there is a lower two-storey wing that is stucco-faced and set back, which may be part of the older house. This wing has one window on each floor, featuring recessed small-paned sashes. The rear elevation includes three sashes with intact glazing bars and one round-headed window with marginal glazing on the first floor. The ground floor retains three earlier iron-framed and wood casements.
