Description
Withycombe Barton is a large red brick house built in the mid to late 19th century, located on St John's Road in Withycombe Raleigh. The house features a roof made of fishscale and plain tiles, with a prominent southern end gable that includes a triple chimney and a blind arch. There is an additional chimney at the end, designed in a similar style. The building stands two storeys high and has five windows with cambered head linings and leaded glazing. It also has three gables on the attic dormer windows, with the outer two extending through the eaves. An open gabled wooden porch is present at the front, and there is a one-storey outshut on the north side. Additionally, there is a Gothic arched brick porch on the side elevation that faces the approach to the Church of St John in the Wilderness.
