Description
Rose Cottage is a farmhouse, formerly known as Backside Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of roughcast stone rubble and features a thatched roof with gabled ends. The building has two storeys and a range of four windows, which include three and four light casements with glazing bars, one of which has leaded panes. There is a thatched dormer on the left side of the first floor, and a right-hand moulded timber door frame that holds a modern plank door. An adjoining byre on the right (northwest) is now part of the house accommodation and is also roughcast with a tiled roof. At the rear, there is a projection that contains stairs, and a rebuilt brick ridge chimney stack is positioned off centre. Inside, the property features stopped chamfered ceiling beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. Additionally, there are stables adjoining to the southeast, which is a long single-storey range made of stone rubble with a corrugated iron hipped roof, facing away from the road.
