Description

This tomb chest, dating from the 16th or 17th century, is located 3 metres south of the parish church in Huxham. It is made of volcanic trap and features two moulded slabs. The lower slab has a cyma recta moulding and rests on a panelled chest, which has three panels on each side and one panel on each end that contains a shield. The side panels may also contain shields, but the stonework is too weathered to confirm this. A moulded base may be situated just below the grass.
