Description
The Priory is a 18th-century building located on the east side of Paternoster Row. It is a two-storey structure with dormers and cellars, constructed of red brick with a slate roof. The building features three dormer casements and an eaves cornice with a pediment above the slightly projecting centre. On the first floor, there are five flush frame sash windows and a first-floor band. The entrance has a wooden doorcase with a dentil open pediment, an arched radial bar fanlight, and a six-panel door with fielded upper panels and panelled reveals. The rainwater heads are inscribed with the years 1759 and 1779. The flanking projecting piers have stone scrolls above the first-floor band.
Inside, the entrance hall has a fanlight and fluted columns, while the staircase features shallow treads and a panelled dado. The Priory is part of a significant group of listed buildings located opposite or near St Mary's Church.
