Description
This is a threshing barn located approximately 12 metres south-west of Place Court in Colaton Raleigh. It is probably from the 17th century, with an early 19th-century roof. The barn is constructed of cob on stone rubble footings and has a thatched roof. It features large double doors in the centre of each long wall that lead to the threshing floor. On the south-east side, there are likely 19th-century full-height doors, each divided into two flaps, flanked by loading hatches positioned high in the wall. The roof is half-hipped on the left side and gable-ended on the right, with eaves that extend a short distance to form a hood over the doorway. Inside, the barn is open to the roof and has a series of 19th-century tie beam and queen post trusses.
