Description

The former water mill, located immediately north of North Mill House, is a disused structure that has been repurposed as an outbuilding. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is constructed of small stone rubble. The building features a corrugated iron roof with gabled ends and stands two storeys high with a loft. It has two window openings, which contain small modern two-light casements set within original openings that are topped by segmental stone arches. There is a similar arch above the right-hand doorway, which has a plank door. Adjoining to the east is a lower two-storey outbuilding, also made of stone rubble and topped with a corrugated iron roof. Although the mill machinery has been removed, it is noted that the mill originally had an undershot wheel and was supplied with water from the River Yarty.
