Description
The Crofts is a house from the 17th century, featuring a timber frame with painted brick and plaster panels, and an extension to the south made of painted brick. It has a hipped thatched roof with a ridge stack and stands two storeys tall. The windows are small paned casements. The left side addition includes a pair of casements on each floor, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The main range displays exposed framing with tension bracing, featuring a pair of casements and a triple casement on the first floor, and a door on the ground floor that is sheltered by a pedimental timber hood, along with a pair of casements. At the right end, there is a single-storey section made of rubble stone, with a roof that slopes down and a small single light window framed in stone at the front. The rear wall is roughcast.
Inside, the north end rooms on both floors have a heavy spine beam with a deep chamfer. The upper beam is scratch moulded underneath and has scroll stops, while the lower beam features jewelled stops. There is a winding stair on the front wall with a short length of turned balusters and a moulded rail.
