Description

The Isaac Monument is a chest tomb located about 4 metres south of the north boundary wall in the north-east corner of the churchyard of the Church of St. Bartholomew. It dates from the later 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The monument features a large raised oval plaque on the north side and a raised fielded plaque on the south side, both of which are flanked by fielded panels adorned with flower and fruit drops at each corner. The tomb has a moulded base and cornice, with a pulvinated frieze that projects forward over the central plaques. The south side bears an inscription commemorating J. Isaac, who died in 1782.
