Description
Witches Cauldron, located on the north-west side of Warminster Road in Westbury, is a building said to date back to the 15th century, with timber framing likely from the 17th century or possibly older. It stands two storeys tall, with Nos 12 and 14 being brick-faced and No 16 finished in pebbledash. The roof is covered with pantiles and features two brick ridge chimneys.
No 12 has two windows on the first floor; the right-hand window is four panes wide, while the left-hand window has altered glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is one modern shop window to the right and a nine-panelled door to the left, framed by a heavy architrave with cut brackets and a moulded wood hood. No 14 has one window on the first floor with altered glazing bars and a shop on the ground floor that features wide windows with six panes by four panes and a door recess of one pane width. To the left is a half-glazed door, along with a small frieze and cornice. No 16 has two windows on the first floor, also with altered glazing bars, and a modern shop front. The east gable end, adjacent to No 12, is timber framed and includes a gable-lit attic.
