Description
The screen wall to Angel Mill, likely built around 1868, is a high structure standing approximately 10 to 15 feet tall. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features five gables. The second gable from the right is enhanced with a crowning segmental stone pediment and a broken pediment below, marking the entrance to the carriageway. This entrance has a depressed arch with enriched spandrels and arrowhead railings for the gates. The screen wall includes a stone chamfered plinth and a moulded impost string that continues across blind recesses below the gables. The right-hand archway is depressed and features large double doors, with a stone string raised above the arched recesses. Additionally, there is a moulded stone string below the cornice, a stone cope, and gable verges. The buildings behind the screen wall are not included in this listing.
