Description

This is an early 19th-century cottage, originally part of the Bowood estate. It is constructed of painted rubble stone with a half-hipped thatched roof and has a pair of diagonally placed ashlar stacks. The cottage is two and a half storeys high, with flush quoins and stone mullion windows. A small eyebrow dormer window sits above a two-light window. The ground floor features a three-light window with a hoodmould on the left and a cambered-head doorway with a gabled timber hood on the right. There are two-light windows with hoodmoulds on each floor of the left end wall. A rear lean-to has been added. The cottage shares similarities with others at Sandy Lane, Calne Without.
