Description
Byde Mill Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse constructed from rough rendered rubble stone, featuring a mansard roof and a central ridge stack. The building is two storeys high and has a 'T'-shaped plan. The main range includes a full-height canted bay at the east end, which has three 12-pane sash windows on each floor, all set in flush stone surrounds, topped with a moulded cornice and a parapet.
The projecting north wing has a formally treated blank north front, which is pedimented and features a two-window range of blank openings. The east side continues the cornice and parapet from the main range and includes an ashlar northeast pier, a first-floor 12-pane sash window in a flush surround with a sill course, and a six-panel door framed by panelled pilasters with a hood supported on brackets. The south side has a combination of a 12-pane window and one blank window on the first floor, along with two dormers. The ground floor windows have been replaced in the 20th century.
