Description

The statue located in the grounds to the east of Grittleton House was created around 1840-1850 for Joseph Neeld, who was both a collector and the builder of Grittleton House. Made of limestone, the statue is designed in the Greek revival style. It features a woman in a grieving pose beside a seated warrior, who is wearing a helmet and positioned next to the arm of a couch. The statue stands on a square plinth.
