Description
This cottage, located off the footpath about 200 meters east of Blue Vein Farmhouse, dates from the late medieval period and the 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a slate roof with a coped west gable and a west end stack. The building is single storey with an attic and has a one-room plan with a stair at the east end.
The north front showcases a chamfered Tudor-arched doorcase, a 2-light recessed ovolo-moulded window, and a buttress to the right. There is a central hipped dormer that also contains a 2-light ovolo-moulded window. At the rear, there is a ground floor 3-light ovolo-moulded window. The east end wall has a gable that is set back, featuring drip-moulded coping over the main wall and a central small rectangular stair light. To the left, there are upper and lower blocked windows: a small chamfered 2-light window and a 4-light small flat-headed window with pointed heads to the lights.
Inside, the cottage has a Tudor-arched flush west fireplace, a chamfered and stopped centre beam, and a curving stair on the east side. The cottage was noted to be in a ruinous condition in 1985.
