Description
Rudloe Cottage is an estate cottage from around 1850, part of the Hartham estate. It is built of ashlar stone with a stone tiled roof, featuring a rear wall stack and a west end stack. This one and a half storey building is designed in a picturesque Tudor Gothic style, characterized by cusped bargeboards and wooden finials on the gables.
The south front includes a projecting gabled porch on the right, which has a moulded pointed archway and a hoodmould, along with a corbel course and dripcourse above. There is an upper 2-light mullion window with a hoodmould, and single lights with hoods on the ground floor sides, as well as blank single lights with hoods on the first floor sides. To the left, there is a range of 2-light windows and a dormer gable.
The left end wing features a 2-light window on the ground floor, paired west gables with two upper 2-light windows, and a 20th-century ashlar single storey extension on the west side. The east gable end, facing the road, has a range of 3-light windows with cusped arched heads and hoodmoulds, along with a circular light above the upper window. The rear wall has a similar single light to the left of the stack and a 2-light window to the right.
