Description
Gardener's Cottage is an estate cottage built in 1849. It is constructed of brick with a pantile roof, featuring moulded brick dressings, cogged eaves, stone sills, and pierced bargeboards with carved pendants. The cottage has a pair of large ridge stacks and an external stack on the north gable. It is a single storey building with a garret and a cruciform plan. The gabled south porch has a Tudor arched doorway with a hoodmould, which contains a 19th-century door with intersecting tracery and decorative hinges. Above the porch is a datestone inscribed 'S T W Jr 1849'. On either side of the porch, there are single three-light casements with splayed brick mullions and jambs, also featuring hoodmoulds. The garret window in the east gable has a 19th-century single fixed light. The cottage is included for its group value only.
