Description

Nos 1 and 3 Castle Street are two houses that date from the 17th century and the early 20th century. They are constructed of brick with flint gable walls and brick quoins, topped with a thatched roof. The houses are single storey with an attic and have three bays. The front elevation was altered around 1920, featuring painted pebbledash and incorporating three canted bays with half-glazed doors at the ends, set between false timber framed piers. The windows are paned, and there are three-light paned flush dormers. The rear of the building has large 20th-century extensions. This structure occupies an important position and has been modified with later additions.
