Description

The Thatched Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid to late 17th century, with an extension added in the 19th century. It is constructed of flint with red brick dressings and features a straw thatched roof with gabled and half-hipped ends. The chimney stacks have been truncated. The cottage has a two-room plan, where the larger room on the right was originally heated by a gable-end stack, while the smaller room on the left was likely unheated. A wing was added to the rear left in the 19th century, and the right-hand gable-end is adjacent to No. 22.

The exterior is one storey with an attic and has two windows on the west front. The attic windows feature eyebrows in the thatch, and the windows are 2-light casements with glazing bars. At the center, the thatched roof extends over a 20th-century porch that has a glazed door. There is a small outshut on the left end, and the rear has a rendered 2-storey wing from the 19th century.

Inside, the right-hand room contains a chamfered axial beam with cyma stops and unchamfered joists, while the smaller left-hand room has a rough axial beam. The first floor and roof space have not been inspected.
