Description
The railings, piers, and gates at the north entrance of Rushmore Park were constructed in the late 19th century for General Pitt-Rivers. They feature cast-iron spearhead railings set on limestone ashlar dwarf walls, which connect highly decorative wrought and cast-iron gate piers that are topped with lamps. These piers lead to large Elizabethan-style ashlar piers that include semi-circular niches, a modillioned cornice, and banded obelisk terminals. The cast and wrought-iron gates are hung on the iron piers. Together, the railings and walls serve as the side garden walls for the Jubilee Room and North Lodge.
