Description
Southcott House is a house built around 1780, constructed of brick with a slate roof. It has two storeys and a cellar, featuring a layout of three bays by three bays in an L-shape, with a mid-19th century block in the re-entrant angle. The central wide hall leads to a rear stair and flanking reception rooms. The facade is characterized by end brick pilasters connected by oversailing eaves. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door, which is enclosed in a 20th-century brick porch with a side door added in 1972. The windows are twelve-paned sash windows with thin glazing bars and concealed boxes. Inside, the house boasts well-modelled Carrara marble fireplaces in both front rooms, along with panelled doors and folding shutters. The rear stair is curved, featuring turned balusters and brackets on the treads.
