Description
Netherfield is a house built around 1830-1840, featuring an ashlar-fronted red brick exterior and a slate pyramid roof with a central ashlar chimney stack. The building is two stories high and has a three-window front, which includes 16-pane sash windows and an arched central doorway, now fitted with a 20th-century glazed door. There is a raised band along the front. A later 19th-century Roman Doric porch has been removed. The sides of the house feature sash windows set in ashlar frames, a nogged brick band, and brick dentilled eaves. A 20th-century side porch has been added, reusing columns from the original front porch. There is also a rear addition. The house was previously known as The Firs.
