Row of three houses, said to have been a malt house formerly. C17 extended and altered. Rubble stone with Bridgwater tile and stone slate roofs. Two storeys and attic. Original range, Nos. 54 and 55, to left, has south end stack and step in roofline. Left section has two first floor small 16-pane sashes and two ground floor triple casements. Next section has ground floor C20 window, doors to Nos. 55 and 54 and a 2-light mullion window to right. First floor C20 window, casement pair and triple casement. No 53, to right, has roof raised slightly and large brick south end stack. Stonework is continuous with No 54 adjoining but windows have C19 flush ashlar surrounds. Two-window east front with door to right. Nos. 50, 51 [rear wing] and 52, are much altered and not of special interest.
INTERIOR: No. 55 has short section of heavily moulded beam, possibly C15, probably reused. No.54 has 3-bay roof with tie-beam and collar trusses [the tie-beams cut away], two tiers of purlins, lower trenched, upper tenoned, curved wind-braces and common-rafter couples without ridge-piece; south end of roof appears to be smoke-blackened.
