Description
No. 8 New Road is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features roughcast over limestone rubble and has a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The windows are 20th-century horned 6/6-pane sash windows, with the centre window on the second floor being blind. The entrance boasts an early 19th-century six-panel door, complete with an iron knocker designed as a ring of twisted rope and a shallow overlight above.
Inside, the property includes a through-passage that leads to a closed string staircase with stick balusters located at the rear right. The landings on the first and second floors have a narrow rear closet extension that jetties out over the ground floor, supported by pillars.
