Description

This is a terrace of six houses, numbered 37 to 43 Portway, built in the 1840s. The houses are brick-faced, with numbers 39 and 41 distinguished by ashlar quoins and voussoirs framing the flat arches over the doorways. Each house has a range of late-glazed sash windows. Central windows on the first and second floors are blind. The front doors are a mix of a flush panel door with glazed upper panels and paired doors. A low brick wall with stone capping and arrowhead railings defines the front gardens. The roofs are slate, with a parapet along the top.
