Description

This is an early 18th century rank of buildings, subsequently altered. The buildings are two storeys high and constructed from coursed and squared rubble stone, set on a stone plinth with a plain band above, and feature stone quoins. They have shallow pitched, mid-19th century roofs with off-ridge chimneys. Each building originally had two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor, featuring two-light casements with stone, stop-chamfered mullions. Number 98 has beaded moulding to its mullions. Number 96 has been altered with the insertion of large, modern casements. The doorways have chamfered jambs and cut brackets supporting moulded stone hoods. Numbers 98 and 100 are paired. Legend has it that number 98 contains stone bottle racks in the basement. Number 100 has a small garret light in a rear extension.
