Description
The Afghan and Zulu War Memorial, dating from after 1881, is located at Larkhill Garrison in Durrington. It consists of several large pieces of rough-hewn rock arranged to resemble a megalith. The base stone extends to create a platform on the east side. Above this, there is a central copper plate that displays the names of those being commemorated. On either side of the memorial, there are three-dimensional trophies representing Zulu and Afghan arms, crafted in cast copper. The memorial was relocated to its current position sometime after 2008.
