Description
Hackthorne Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling. They date from the mid-19th century, with the possibility of earlier construction. The exterior features rendered brick with tarred flint sills and a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic, consisting of one large bay and one small bay on each side. There are boarded doors leading to a lobby in front of a central stack, although one door has been replaced by a window. The windows are two-light with cast iron diamond pattern glazing and timber lintels. There are two flush dormers in the roof, which extends down at the front to provide cover for a communal well and well head. The roof is half hipped at the ends. At the rear, there is a flat-roofed 20th-century extension that runs the full length of the building.
