Description

The North Barn at the former Bell Farm, located at RAF Hullavington, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed rubble, featuring flush rusticated dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof that is half-hipped at both ends. The barn has a T-shaped plan consisting of seven bays, with a south midstrey. The midstrey has a half-hip and is equipped with two-leaf plank doors, while there are additional plank doors at the north cart entrance. To the right of the midstrey, there is a lean-to shed with a corrugated iron roof, which is scheduled to be replaced with stone slates in Autumn 1986. Inside, the barn has a butt-purlin, collar, and tie-beam roof structure, with some timbers renewed, and features concrete block internal walls.
