Description

Pillar Box Cottage is a cottage dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick on a greensand base and features a pantiled roof. The building consists of one bay and two storeys, with an extension to the left that incorporates a former outbuilding, creating a second bay. The cottage has a five-panelled door, with the upper panel being glazed, and a 12-paned sash window on the first floor, which is framed by a stone surround with an arris bead. This window replaces a blocked window that had a gauged arch and keystone. The left bay has a hipped slate roof, and there is a Victorian wall letterbox present. The left gable has been re-windowed in the 20th century, and there is a stack located on the left gable of the higher first bay.
