Description

Stanton Bridge is a road bridge over the Kennet and Avon Canal, built around 1807. It is constructed of red brick in English bond, featuring stone coping along the parapet. The bridge has a splayed plan and an elliptical arch made of 13-inch bullnosed brickwork. At the base of the parapet, there is a two-course string, and the flush half-round copings end in slight piers. Additionally, there is stone capping on the brick revetment that supports the towpath, along with grooves for a timber sluice.
