Description

The Iron Bridge is a bridge built in 1860 by Maggs and Hindley, located in Stourton with Gasper within the Stourhead Gardens. It carries a footpath over the west arm of Garden Lake and replaced an oak bridge that was constructed in 1840. The bridge features a single shallow segmental arch with decorated spandrels, a wooden walkway, and iron stanchions that hold chains. It was erected for Henry Ainslie Hoare, the 5th Baronet.
