Description
Turleigh Grange is a house built around 1820, possibly incorporating an earlier structure. It features an ashlar front with a slate roof, coped gables, and end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, presenting a formal, slightly asymmetrical three-window south front. This front includes large 20-pane sash windows and a central six-panel door with a traceried fanlight. There are also three small raking dormers. The house is adorned with rusticated quoins, raised strings above each floor, raised window surrounds, and wedge lintels that align with the string courses. The door surround is elevated, featuring moulded imposts and a hood supported by consoles. A moulded cornice and parapet are present, with the parapet breaking forward over the quoins. At the rear, there is a parallel lower range and an ashlar rear wing that runs parallel to the road, showcasing early to mid-19th century details, including paired small sashes with hoodmoulds on the ground floor and a three-light canted oriel above with a raised band and sill course. The property was formerly known as Spring Villa.
