Description
Powney's Cottages, located on Bowden Hill in Bromham, is a former bailiff's house to Spye Park, dating from the mid-19th century. The building features an ashlar front with ironstone rubble on the other sides and has hipped slate roofs. It is designed in an L-plan, with two storeys and a formal front that has three windows. The stone mullion windows are adorned with hoodmoulds and small-paned iron casements. There are three-light windows on each side, and a two-light window is situated in the centre of the first floor above double doors that lead into a gabled ashlar porch with a Tudor-arched doorway. The rear wing on the west side has similar two-light windows with hoodmoulds on each floor. The east end wall also features similar two-light windows on each floor, with a door in a gabled porch to the right and similar two-light windows on each floor of the added parallel rear range.
