Description
No. 2 Oliver's Lane is a pair of houses, now functioning as two separate homes, dating from the early 18th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with an ashlar ridge stack and a stone slate roof. The layout is an L-shaped range featuring two one-room plan houses, with a right-hand rear wing that connects to No. 19 High Street.
The exterior is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range. The ground-floor openings have been altered, featuring a timber lintel above a former left-hand window that now has a 20th-century door. The ground-floor has cambered heads above 2/2-pane sashes, while the first floor has horned plate-glass sashes with margin panes set in exposed boxes. There is a flat-headed dormer on the right-hand side with a 2/2-pane sash. The left-hand gable is rendered up to the first floor and includes a wide right-hand doorway with flush panels, a shop window with a 15/15-pane Yorkshire sash, and a 6/6-pane attic sash. The rear wing features oak lintels above sashes with glazing bars.
Inside, the main house includes a rear stair flight, chamfered ceiling beams, and a three-bay roof with collar trusses.
