Description
Nos 9, 11, 13, and 15 in Market Place are a group of four houses, now an unoccupied garage, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of ashlar stone and feature a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate, with an ashlar stack on the right side. The buildings rise three stories and have seven windows across the front.
The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop front and garage doors, along with two notable door cases that lead to No 9, which has a six-panelled door. Above these doors are flat stone hoods supported by brackets, with engaged columns and fluted friezes. No 15 features a Regency-style bow-fronted shop window with a reeded surround and decorative paterae.
On the first floor, there is a plat band and a mix of 12-pane, 16-pane, and 4-pane sash windows, along with two blocked windows. The second floor also has a reeded plat band and features 4-pane and 6-pane sashes, with two additional blocked windows. The eaves of Nos 9, 11, and 13 have a fluted band, cornice, and blocking course, while the eaves of No 15 are lower and plain. At the rear, there are 20th-century garage extensions. The buildings are included in the listing despite the 20th-century openings added to the ground floor.
