Description

Quaker Cottage is a detached cottage dated 1705, located on King Street in Melksham. The building is constructed of dressed stone and features a stone slate roof with coped verges and a stone stack on the left side. It is two stories high with a symmetrical front that has three windows. The central door is set in a cyma-moulded case, with a 3-light cyma-mullioned window on either side. Above the door lintel, there is a raised string course. The first floor contains three 2-light cyma-mullioned windows. The rear of the cottage is made of rubblestone and includes a central projecting cylindrical stair turret, a 2-light cyma-mullioned window to the left on the first floor, and a single-storey extension with a hipped pantiled roof that projects to the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
