Description
Naish House Farmhouse is a farmhouse likely dating to around 1820-30, although it incorporates an earlier building. The main section of the farmhouse was refaced with ashlar stone, while retaining some original features. It has a slate roof with coped gables and end chimney stacks. The two-story, three-window front shows an irregular spacing of window bays, which indicates that it was indeed refaced. The windows are sash windows with 16-pane, 12-pane, and 20-pane divisions. A six-panel door is set within a Roman Doric projecting porch, which is topped with a fanlight. The exterior features a raised plinth, raised angle pilasters with fluted friezes, a moulded cornice, a parapet, and raised blocks over the angle piers with incised decoration. A north-facing wall is constructed of rubble stone. The rear roof is covered with stone slates.
Inside the main range, the roof is a five-bay structure with tie-beam and collar trusses. The attached two-story rendered range to the south features a three-window range of casement windows and a slate roof, with a rear wall of rubble stone. The south range also contains heavy chamfered and bar-stopped beams, suggesting a mid-17th century or earlier origin. Naish House appears on the 1773 Andrews and Drury map.
