Description

Danvers Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the late 17th century, with an addition built in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered timber framing, 19th-century cob, and has a hipped thatched roof with a brick stack. A baffle entry leads into what was originally the gable end of the 17th-century section. The cottage is two stories high with a two-window front. It features casement windows; a 20th-century door is located to the right of centre, with a three-light casement window to the left and right. The first floor also has two three-light casements, retaining original glazing. A 20th-century glazed door is on the right return. The rear elevation features three-light casement windows. The interior is said to contain an open fireplace with a chamfered cambered lintel on stone jambs and a bread oven, as well as a chamfered beam with run-out stops.
