Description
Courtfield House, dating from around 1754, is a two-storey building with an attic and cellars, constructed in an earlier style and incorporating an earlier building. It features a brick exterior on a projecting plinth with moulded stone capping and chamfered stone quoins. The roof is a valley type with half-hipped gables, covered in stone tiles, and has projecting eaves with a wooden gutter supported by wrought iron brackets.
The house includes two hipped dormers with three-pane sash windows and glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there are three windows with raised stone surrounds, while the ground floor has two similar windows and an early 19th-century half-glazed door set in a stone surround with an architrave, plain outer framing, and stone console brackets that support a cornice and pediment. There are also two two-light cellar windows and three-light bay windows on the return fronts.
At the back, there is an irregular gabled wing to the right and a 20th-century timber-framed loggia with brick herringbone nogging that connects to a workshop extension. The gable end features stone mullion casement windows with stone drips above. Inside, several features have been retained, including a Tudor arch fireplace on the ground floor.
