Description

Wick Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 15th or 16th century, with extensions from the 17th century. It is constructed of painted rubble stone and timber-frame, with a concrete tile roof, hipped at the north-west angle, and a south-end stack. The south range is of rubble stone, featuring heavy cornerstones and a three-light stone mullion window with a hoodmould in the south gable, alongside a 20th-century window below. A timber post is embedded in the wall on the west side. The timber-framed north range exhibits exposed framing on its west end, a north-side door, and a dormer above the door. The east end of this range is a brick wall. Inside the north range, the east end contains two full cruck trusses and some windbracing in the room above. The south side of a doorway has heavy, jowelled posts. A room on the west end has three heavy beams with broach stops.
