Description
Elm Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the early 17th century. It features square-panelled timber-framing with brick nogging and some brickwork, topped by a half-hipped thatched roof and brick stacks. The cottage has a three-bay timber frame, with a smaller central bay for the chimney, and presents a gable end to the street. It is two stories tall with an attic and has two windows on the front. To the right, there is a half-glazed door with a thatched canopy, while to the left are a 20th-century casement window and a two-light casement. On the first floor, there is a single casement window, and the attic contains a single casement window on the left. The right side of the cottage features a Flemish bond brick gable end facing the street, with a two-light casement window on both the ground and first floors, and a single casement on the first floor. The rear has a 20th-century door to the left, along with two two-light casements and one three-light casement. The left side is windowless and constructed of English garden wall bond brick. Inside, the cottage is said to have chamfered beams with ogee stops.
