Description

The gate piers at New Lodge were built in 1878 and are notable for their height and design. They consist of two tall square piers made of rock-faced masonry, each topped with moulded caps and ball finials. To the right of the piers is a section of wall approximately 2.5 meters long, featuring a swept down coping. The entrance is adorned with a pair of decorative iron gates that have high cresting. These gate piers are included for their group value with the adjacent New Lodge.
