Description
Corner Cottage is a building that combines two cottages into one dwelling, dating from the 17th century and early 19th century. It features a timber frame with a thatched roof and is single storey with an attic, consisting of two bays. An additional cottage was added to the left in the 19th century, which is two storeys high and also has two bays.
The right cottage has had much of its original framing and infilling replaced with brickwork in the 18th century, although it originally had three panels high, which can still be seen in the right gable that includes corner braces and an entrance. The building has paned timber windows and two flush dormers. There is a brick stack located between the two bays and at the left gable end where it meets the added structure. This added structure is made of sarsen stone, which has been refronted in brick, and features segmental headed openings with timber casement windows. The central door has been removed. At the rear, there is a lean-to that extends under the roof.
