Description
The Rectory is a house built in the mid-19th century, constructed from small ashlar blocks with a slate valley roof, coped gables, and end wall stacks. It stands three storeys tall and features flush quoins and raised bands at the first and second floors. The east front has two pairs of 6-pane attic sash windows, a pair of 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, a pair of plate glass sashes, and a ground floor 12-pane sash next to a 6-panel door set in a Roman Doric ashlar porch, along with a pair of plate glass sashes. There is a two-storey extension on the right side, and to the left, a small part of the rear of Spring Grove is incorporated, featuring a small 12-pane sash window at ground level. The west front is similar but has sash windows throughout, including two pairs of 6-pane attic windows and two pairs of 12-pane windows on the first and ground floors, along with a central wall-face stack. The building was purchased as a rectory in the late 19th century and is included for its group value.
