Description
Manor Cottages is a row of three houses built from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. They are constructed of rubble stone and topped with stone slate roofs, standing two storeys tall. The first house, No 1, is the tallest and features a mansard roof with end stacks. It has a three-window range of unmoulded two-light mullion windows with small-paned sashes. The central entrance has a six-panel door set in a flush surround, topped with a hood supported by brackets.
Nos 2 and 3 have ridge and north end stacks. No 2 has a regular three-window front, with similar mullion windows: two-light above and three-light below, along with a central door that also has a hood on brackets. No 3 is an addition, made of squared rubble stone with irregular window placement. It has one two-light window in the centre of the first floor and a three-light window to the right, with a two-light window to the left on the ground floor. The door features a timber lintel and a hood on brackets, with a pair of casements to the right. It is said that these cottages were built for weavers, although there is no clear evidence to support this claim.
