Description
Slades House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the early 18th century and was altered in the late 19th century. The building is constructed from dressed limestone and features a hipped tiled roof with stone and brick stacks. It is two stories high and has three windows across the front.
A notable feature is the 19th-century gabled stone porch, which has a chamfered pointed opening and lancets on the sides. The inner door is a Tudor-arched design from the 20th century. The porch has a coped verge topped with a cross finial. On either side of the porch, there are two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement windows. The first floor has two-light mullioned casements flanking a single-light casement.
To the right of the center, there is a truncated stack with a tiled capping, and to the left, a small gabled attic dormer. The left side of the house features recessed chamfered mullioned casements along with 20th-century casements that have gothic glazing bars. There is also a single-storey extension, which was a former farm building, located to the right and includes two-light leaded casements. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in August 1986. It is likely that the house was altered by the Clouds Estate.
