Description

Salisbury Road Lodge Gate is a building from 1886, originally serving as a lodge for Savernake Forest. It is constructed of red brick with yellow brick and ashlar dressings, topped with a pyramidal fish-scale slate roof and a central brick stack featuring cornicing. The lodge is a single storey and has yellow brick brackets at the eaves. A central porch with a steeply pointed coped gable leads to a planked door, flanked by two stone-mullioned casement windows with glazing bars, each featuring similar arches. There are also two additional similar windows on the sides. The porch displays a dated escutcheon bearing the Ailesbury monogram and coronet, along with the legend "Fuimus."
