Group Of 4 Chest Tombs Approximately 20 Metres To South East Of Church Of St Andrew

A group of four chest tombs is located approximately 20 meters southeast of the Church of St Andrew in Chippenham. These tombs date from the 18th century and are situated in the southeast corner of the churchyard. Each tomb features a plinth and a cyma-moulded flat top.

The first tomb, located about 40 meters from the southeast corner of the church, has shields with ogee bases at both ends and two on each side, which are highlighted by pilasters with raised-and-fielded panels. The second tomb, approximately 33 meters from the church along the easterly footpath, is adorned with ornate carved scrolls on the pilasters, a semicircular-arched panel on the north side, and a complex-shaped panel on the south side. The third tomb, about 30 meters from the church, is similar to the first. The fourth tomb, located around 9 meters from the church, resembles the second tomb.
