Description

The sarcophagus on the Great Terrace at Iford Manor is a Greek marble monolith dating from the second or third century. It features a high-relief carved front depicting a boar hunting scene. The top of the sarcophagus is made of weathered limestone from the early 20th century and is raised off the ground on three cut blocks. This piece is part of Harold Peto's notable collection of classical sculpture, which has been reset on the Great Terrace in the garden at Iford.
